We

OUR HISTORY

Our story begins with Nancy Pacheco native of Cusco Peru, who from an early age developed a taste for Peruvian textiles, which was enhanced by visiting in his youth the beautiful village of TAQUILE in the heights near Lake Titicaca in Puno, there all are dedicated to this beautiful art of weaving, practicing the teachings of our Inca culture, working in community with much collaboration and respect for nature, animals and humans, it is in this beautiful village where our founder met the wonderful Alpaca fiber and was captivated by its unique properties. In love with Peru and the Andes, she decided to dedicate her life to the Alpaca and the imposing textile tradition practiced by the artisans of these lands, assuming the commitment to keep it alive and share it with the world; this is how in 1994 she founded ALPACA COLLECTION celebrating the best of Peruvian textiles and expressing through the exclusive use of the noble fiber of alpaca and baby alpaca 100%, classic designs, original and full of pride.

ALPACA COLLECTION began its activities in a very natural way, starting with the passion of its founder, who is a native of Cusco in Peru, for the TEXTILE ART that she developed from an early age which was enhanced by visiting in her youth, the beautiful village of Taquile, in the heights near Lake Titicaca in Puno. There everyone is dedicated to this beautiful art of weaving, practicing the teachings of our Inca culture, working in community with much collaboration and respect for nature, animals and human beings. There our founder met the wonderful Alpaca fiber and was captivated by its unique properties.

The ALPACA, a member of the llama family, grazes at altitudes ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 meters above sea level in the plains of the Peruvian Andes. Its coat grows naturally in more than 30 shades ranging from beige, gray-brown to black. This fiber is more resistant than wool, is much warmer, has an incredible softness and feel, is hypoallergenic because it is lanolin free, and even has a good degree of permeability.

Our suppliers of 100% Alpaca and 100% Baby Alpaca fiber, carry out their shearing processes following the protocol of “Technical Standards for Shearing and Fleece of Alpaca Fiber” approved by the Ministry of Production of Peru, which requires humane treatment of these beautiful animals. Their breeding does not harm the environment since they do not corrode the soil, unlike goats, from which Kashmir is obtained. Since then, more than 30 years ago when we started our activities with handmade weaving machines and a store in the Imperial City of Cusco, with local men and women weavers.

This fiber, honored from our name, has a rigid selection process, which comes from responsible suppliers committed to the conservation of native Peruvian species, respecting breeding protocols that propose fair trade as an incorporated value. Thus, we consciously elaborate, based on request, textiles with unique touches and authentic designs, from our own perspective and way of feeling the ancestral Peruvian culture.

At Alpaca Collection we offer versatile and timeless garments made to accompany and last a lifetime. Given our vision and commitment to inclusiveness and diversity, our team is made up mostly of wonderful people from the rural areas of Cusco, who work in an organized, responsible way and with a great willingness to co-create.

Today, with almost 30 years of uninterrupted work and having exported our garments to Europe, Asia and the USA; day by day we continue to be more committed and we promise to remain faithful to our dreams and ideals.
